Next steps after clearing CLAT exam

Woah! You’ve succeeded! You’ve finally made it to the CLAT merit list thanks to all of your hard work. The thrill of passing the CLAT exam is unreal. You can dream about it for days after discovering your name on the list because the excitement is so intense. The big day is here, and you’ve already earned your keep.

What comes next is the question at this point. Will I immediately have to return to college? Will a counseling procedure be used? Are there any phases in the choosing process that are longer? Guidance Process

To take part in the counseling process, the students had to sign up for an account on the consortium of NLUs’ official website. The following steps make up the counseling process:

Release of the main Merit List

According to the academics’ rankings and merits, the conducting authority will publish a specific merit list for each National Law University. Candidates can review each NLU’s stop and participate appropriately.

Fees paid

Candidates whose names appeared on the primary list must confirm their seats by paying the requisite fee of INR 50,000 within the specified time frame. The next stages must be followed by the applicants when this one is finished:

Candidates have the option of locking the seats that have been assigned to them. The candidate will no longer be taken into account for the other lists after the seat has been frozen for them.

Upgrade: The applicant may ask for an upward shift if they are dissatisfied with the seat allocation. The next item on the list will be upgraded if the applicant is eligible for any open seats.

Publication of 2nd and 3rd lists.

The conducting authority will publish the following list for the second round of the allocation procedure after the preliminary list. Additionally, a list containing the names of the applicants who were placed on the waitlist will also be made public. If any of them remain vacant following the seat-locking procedure, these candidates will be given a seat. These candidates, too, like other ones, need to pay the price. The candidates who have frozen their seats can leave this round, though. An applicant must pay a cost of INR 10,000 in addition to the INR 50,000 they already owe if they desire to withdraw from the admissions process.

The applicants must return to their respective NLUs after the seat allocation process is finished in order to complete further steps including document verification and fee deposition. Candidates who do not comply with this requirement will not be confirmed for admission and will not receive a refund. Just in case the candidate is shown to be ineligible during the document verification, no price, i.e., INR 50,000 paid, will be reimbursed to them since the counseling charge will be forfeited and their admission will be revoked.
